### Lesson Plan: Basic Science and Technology
**Grade Level:** Primary 1
**Subject:** Basic Science and Technology
**Duration:** 60 minutes
**Topic:** Simple Machine + Booting + Teeth Brushing
---
#### Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Identify and name a simple machine found in their environment.
2. Understand and demonstrate the steps to boot up a computer.
3. Learn the proper technique and importance of brushing their teeth.
#### Materials Needed:
- Chart or flashcards with images of simple machines (e.g., lever, pulley, wheel and axle)
- A computer or a visual aid showing the steps of booting a computer
- A model of teeth and a toothbrush
- Chart with teeth brushing steps
- Videos or animations related to each topic (if available)
- Worksheets for coloring and practicing related to the topics
---
### Lesson Outline:
#### Introduction (10 minutes)
1. **Greeting and Warm-Up:**
- Welcome the students.
- Sing a short, fun song related to cleaning or technology to grab their attention.
2. **Introduction to Topics:**
- Briefly introduce the three topics: Simple Machine, Booting a computer, and Teeth Brushing.
- Explain that today we are going to learn something important related to science and technology that we see and use every day.
#### Activity 1: Simple Machine (15 minutes)
1. **Discussion and Identification:**
- Show pictures or real objects of simple machines like a lever (scissors), pulley (flagpole), and wheel and axle (toy car).
- Ask students if they have seen or used any of these at home or school.
2. **Interactive Activity:**
- Divide students into small groups and give each group an object.
- Ask them to decide what type of simple machine it is and where they might find it.
3. **Sharing:**
- Each group shares their findings with the class.
#### Activity 2: Booting a Computer (15 minutes)
1. **Steps to Boot a Computer:**
- Show the computer or visual aid.
- Explain the steps to boot a computer:
1. Press the power button.
2. Wait for the computer to start up.
3. Enter a password if needed.
4. Reach the desktop screen.
2. **Demonstration:**
- Demonstrate how to boot up a computer step by step.
- Engage students by asking them to point out what to do next.
3. **Simulation Activity:**
- Use a computer simulation game or model where students can practice booting up a virtual computer.
#### Activity 3: Teeth Brushing (15 minutes)
1. **Importance of Teeth Brushing:**
- Discuss why it is important to brush our teeth regularly: prevents cavities, keeps teeth clean, and maintains fresh breath.
2. **Proper Technique:**
- Using the model of teeth and a toothbrush, demonstrate the techniques:
- Wet the toothbrush.
- Apply a small amount of toothpaste.
- Brush in circular motions.
- Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of the teeth.
- Spit out the toothpaste and rinse the mouth.
3. **Hands-On Practice:**
- Give students a chart showing the steps for brushing teeth.
- Let them practice the movements using their fingers as “toothbrushes.”
#### Review and Closing (5 minutes)
1. **Recap:**
- Quickly review the key points of Simple Machines, Booting a Computer, and Teeth Brushing.
2. **Q&A:**
- Encourage students to ask any questions or share anything new they learned.
3. **Worksheet Activity:**
- Hand out worksheets related to the lesson topics for coloring and practicing what they learned.
4. **Homework:**
- Ask students to draw a picture of a simple machine they have at home and bring it to the next class.
- Practice brushing their teeth at home following the steps learned in class.
---
#### Assessment:
- Observe student participation and engagement during activities.
- Listen to shared findings and answers during group activities and Q&A.
- Collect and review the worksheets and homework for understanding and correctness.
---
#### Differentiation:
- For students who need more help, pair them with a buddy or offer additional support during group activities.
- Provide visual aids and hands-on materials for sensory learners.
- Challenge advanced learners by asking them to explain or teach a step in the process to the class.
---
This lesson plan combines interactive activities, visual aids, and practical demonstrations to make learning about simple machines, booting a computer, and teeth brushing engaging and comprehensible for Primary 1 students.
